Massachusetts OKs 3rd Dispensary; No Locations Are Open Nevertheless

BOSTON (AP) — A third bud retailer has been awarded a final permit by Massachusetts regulators, but no dispensaries have opened yet in the nation.

The Cannabis Control Commission approved the permit Nov. 1, 2018, for Pharmacannis Massachusetts of Wareham. The company operates a medical marijuana dispensary in the town and hopes to begin selling recreational marijuana as well.

The commission before approved closing licenses for retail sales to New England Treatment Access in Northampton and Cultivate Holdings in Leicester. Those stores are expected to be the first in the state to open by the end of November 2018 — probably for recreational customers.

Before opening, operators must enroll all their employees with regulators and enter their inventories in a state database.
