Medical cannabis cultivator gets go-ahead to begin planting in Ohio

Ohio regulators have given the final green light to a medical cannabis grower to begin the cultivation process, signaling the state’s long-awaited MMJ program is finally underway.

That means the company can actually begin planting cannabis, after having waited months to overcome red tape and legal threats over issues in the application scoring process.

FN Group Holdings is one of a dozen Level 2 growers, meaning it can cultivate up to 3,000 square feet of MMJ canopy. There are also 13 Level 1 cultivation licensees that will be permitted to grow up to 25,000 square feet of cannabis.

Another half-dozen inspections are scheduled within the next two months for other companies with provisional cultivation licenses, the  paper reported. That’s the last step ahead of the companies are cleared to begin planting.

FN Group Holdings received its final review just this week.
