Mexico's government moves to legalize marijuana

Mexico’s incoming government filed a bill on Thursday to create a medical marijuana business and allow its recreational use, a part of a crime-fighting plan which would make Mexico one of the world’s most populous countries to legalize the drug.

The bill would permit marijuana to grow and commercialize. People would also be permitted to possess up to 30 g, and cultivate plants for personal use, so long as they enroll in an anonymous government listing and produce no more than 480 grams of marijuana per year.  

Smoking pot in public areas would also be permitted.
