Redding forum to focus on commercial medical marijuana grows

California is seeking input on new regulations for medical marijuana grows and will hear from the public Wednesday in Redding.

The discussion, set for the Red Lion Hotel, 1830 Hilltop Drive, begins at 4 p.m., according to the California Department of Food and Agriculture.

The agency is putting on the forum to solicit opinions on its Medical Cannabis Cultivation Program. That, it says, is part of the new regulations for medical marijuana, known as the Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act, enacted in 2015.

That law sets up a regulatory framework that is designed to track every marijuana product up until its retail sale, according to the agency.
